Loved ones names are painted on a butterfly and placed on the trees.
If you would like one in the memory of your loved one please contact the Pekin Chapter by September 2012 for details of a small price of material and then sending them to you afterwards for you to keep.

Butterflies Decorate Trees in Memory of Children Pink wooden butterflies adorn two trees in Mineral Spring Park’s Winter Wonderland display on Coal Car Road in memory of children of the Pekin Chapter of The Compassionate Friends. The two trees have over 100 special butterflies each inscribed with a child’s name, town, birth and death dates. The butterflies were made with care by Terry Johnson; painted by Rick Leesman; and inscribed by Christy Bushong, David Harms, and Wendy McKibben. The program is coordinated by Marcella and Nicki Harms.
